What Members are Saying

“We all love the fancy chords, voicings and scales. But, Josh's relentless focus on mastery of the fundamentals is what keeps bringing me back for more.”

“Josh's Friday workshops are helping me in my real gigs. I was able to confidently improvise and solo during a set—just by using the scales and concepts we practiced that day. His explanations make theory click and show up in my playing immediately.”

“This course gave me a clear direction, allowing me to focus on one goal at a time. It was fun, it motivated me, and the challenge provided me with valuable perspective and new ideas.”

“I've learned and executed more with Josh's Friday workshops than with any other online instruction. I often miss the live sessions, but catching up with replays means I never fall behind. His tune breakdowns helped me go from playing tunes off sheet music to actually understanding Real Book comping.”

“Josh’s course was so well taught, I signed up for the full year. I especially love how he ordered the keys from easiest to hardest—it made the learning process feel approachable and doable.”

“The course has been spot on for my needs. I am especially impressed that you cared enough to take the time to condense it down to just the beef so that we didn't have to search to find it. I am also impressed with the quality of your website and videos and its ease of use.”

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who is the All-Access Pass for?

The All-Access Pass is designed for beginner to intermediate jazz pianists who want clear guidance and structure. If you can read music and navigate the keyboard, you're ready to start. Our curriculum begins with foundational techniques and progresses to advanced concepts like lush ballad voicings, modern quartal voicings, and improvisation—so there's plenty for intermediate players to dig into.

  • What if I can't attend the live workshops?

No problem! Every live workshop is recorded and available in your course library shortly after. Watch on your own schedule and revisit any session as many times as you need. Many members exclusively use the replays and still see excellent results.

  • Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Both monthly and annual plans can be canceled anytime with no penalties or hassles. If you cancel, you'll retain access through the end of your current billing period.

  • How is this different from YouTube videos or books?

YouTube videos and books teach techniques in isolation—you're left to figure out how to connect the dots yourself. Jazz-Library gives you a structured curriculum, live feedback in weekly workshops, and a community to keep you accountable. You'll know exactly what to practice, why it matters, and how to apply it to real songs.

  • How much time do I need to practice?

You'll see progress with as little as 20-30 minutes of focused practice per day. The live workshops are about an hour each week, but replays let you watch in chunks if that's easier.

  • What equipment or software do I need?

Just a piano or keyboard, a metronome (or app) and internet access. No special software required. Everything is accessible through your web browser. It can be helpful to print the sheet music to follow along, or use a tablet.

  • Do I get support if I have questions?

Yes! While this isn't private 1-on-1 coaching, you have multiple ways to get help:

    - Ask questions during live workshops and get real-time answers from Josh
    - Post in the private community where Josh and other members respond daily

We're in the community every day, and we regularly create new lessons based on member questions.

For membership support, email support [at] jazz-library.com

  • What happens to my access if I cancel?

You'll keep access through the end of your current billing period (month or year). After that, your access ends. If you rejoin later, you'll pick up right where you left off. Nothing is lost.

Unlike individual course purchases (which are lifetime access), the membership gives you access to everything as long as you're subscribed.

  • What happens after I join?

Once you complete your purchase, you're immediately taken to your dashboard with full access to the courses, community and workshops.

You will receive a welcome email with everything you need to get started.

Hi, I'm Josh

I studied piano at the University of Toledo, Cleveland Institute of Music, Oberlin Conservatory and built the classical technique to play almost anything... at least until you put a lead sheet in front of me. Playing spontaneously terrified me. It took years to build the skills to improvise confidently, and I've spent the last 5 years helping over 6,000 students do the same. My approach focuses on practical application, not just academic theory, so you can actually play standards with confidence. Over 150,000 musicians watch my YouTube lessons monthly, and hundreds of members join me live every week in online workshops and in-person masterclasses. Let me help you skip the years of confusion I went through.
